The Tamala Park waste disposal facility provides the general public with a comprehensive refuse disposal service, a recycling centre as well as a re-use shop and receival area for recyclables, household hazardous wastes and unwanted electrical items such as computers, keyboards and mobile phones.

MORE THAN JUST LANDFILL

The Tamala Park waste disposal facility provides the general public with a comprehensive refuse disposal service, a recycling centre with a reuse shop and a receival area for recyclables along with household hazardous wastes and unwanted electrical items such as computers, keyboards and mobile phones; a transfer station to drop off general wastes; it also provides an education centre.
 
With the approval of the Council, Landfill Gas and Power are currently producing electricity on site. This is obtained from extracting the landfill gas (containing methane) within the landfill site.  The gas is used for the production of electricity, and will creates another income stream for the benefit of the council and its Member Councils and ratepayers.
